The useful starting point
A technology claim appearing in many articles can feel well established. If they all quote the same press release, they may provide repetition rather than separate evidence. Counting mentions does not answer how many independent observations exist.
A small step to try
Choose a few reports and trace the source each uses. Group those sharing the same underlying evidence. Distinguish an independent test from a rewritten announcement. This exercise does not automatically disprove the original claim; it clarifies the basis available for assessing it. Your summary can state that coverage is widespread while independent confirmation remains a separate question.
