Keep Sensitive Information Out of Casual AI Prompts

Understand the destination and purpose before sharing information.

The useful starting point

A prompt copied from a private project can include names, access details or unpublished material that the task does not need. The useful first question is what information is actually necessary, followed by how the selected service handles it.

A small step to try

Use approved tools and the organisation’s applicable process for private information. Replace unnecessary details with synthetic examples and keep credentials out of the prompt. Check the current service terms and settings rather than assuming all AI tools work identically. This article describes a review habit; it does not determine legal permission or provide assurance about any particular provider’s handling of data.
