Save environment save life – AFFORESTATION DRIVE AT GOGABABA TEKRI

Aurangabad Kars very own Goga baba Tekri situated in the heart of city surrounded by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar
Marathwada University is soon to be getting
a green cover of 6,250 local specie trees.
( Indian Army’s Social Task – 1 )
This plantation drive is been carried out by 136 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army)
Ecological Task Force, MAHAR, with a mission ( Save environment save life ) of increasing tree cover and maintaining
ecological balance in Marathwada region. ( Indian Army’s Social Task – 2 )
In a joint meeting with Shri Sunil Chavan, IAS, District Collector, Aurangabad and Colonel Mansur Ali Khan, Commanding Officer,
Marathwada Ecological Task Force Battalion, this 10 hectare land (Goga baba Tekri) was handed over to Ecological
Task Force Battalion for carrying out plantation, this initiative was taken by the District Collector, seeing an
excellent track record of the Battalion in past four years of planting approximately 7 lakh trees in 853 hectare
land around Aurangabad with survival rate of plants over 95%. ( Indian Army’s Social Task – 3 )
On 15th July 2021,
when the Ecological Task Force
Battalion started plantation at Goga baba Hill
under Social Forestry Scheme this Ecological Task Force got whole hearted support from locals,
who enthusiastically volunteered and participated in this drive. Seeing the energy and
involvement of locals the Ecological Task Force Battalion is sure of successfully
accomplishing the task of planting 6,250 sapling in a short span. ( Indian Army’s Social Task – 2 )
