Menlo Ventures and Anthropic
Launch $100M AI Startup Fund
Menlo Ventures and Anthropic team together to establish a $100 million fund to assist next-generation AI businesses across multiple industries.
Menlo Ventures and Anthropic, the AI developer behind Claude with backing from Amazon, are teaming up to establish a $100 million fund dedicated to funding AI entrepreneurs.
Starting at $100,000, the Anthology Fund will provide seed and growth investments in next-generation AI firms.
The fund will focus on five areas:
• AI infrastructure, including developer experience tools
• Frontier/novel applications of AI for areas including health care, financial services and cybersecurity
• Consumer-focused AI solutions
• Trust and safety tools
• AI apps and tech that maximize societal benefits, such as new forms of education and training
“Through this collaboration, we aim to catalyze innovation and shape the future of artificial intelligence in the startup ecosystem,” wrote Matt Murphy and Tim Tully, Menlo Ventures partners.
Startups can apply for funding through an online form. The fund will provide startups with access to Anthropic’s AI models, including the new Claude 3.5 Sonnet, as well as direct expertise from the Anthropic team.

The Anthology Fund ideally targets U.S. startups, though Menlo said it will back “exceptional companies internationally.”
‘While startups are given access to Claude, they are not required to use Anthropic models to receive funding from the Anthology Fund.
“We’re seeking AI pioneers who harness Anthropic’s cutting-edge technology to redefine what is possible today through AI,” Murphy and Tully wrote.
“Our goal is not just driving value but fundamentally helping teams to reshape industries and improve lives.”
