Here’s why the Half-Life 3 rumours have
recently surfaced once more.
It’s encouraging that, despite years of fervent requests for Half-Life 3, and a great deal of conjecture, Valve may finally be developing the shooter that fans have been longing for. Of course, you should take everything above with as many pinches of salt as you can fit in your palms.
This is how it operates.
For a very long time, it appeared that the day pigs learnt to fly was the only possibility for Half-Life 3 to ever be released. It appears that oinkers may soon acquire wings, as a recent rumour has rekindled expectations for the possibility that one of the most anticipated (though never confirmed) video games in history are indeed under development.
Thanks to Notebookcheck, a voice actor unintentionally revealed that they had been working on a new Valve game codenamed “Project White Sands.”
First, a very perceptive Reddit user saw a post on a voice actor’s profile page—which is presently unavailable—that was later removed. Probably because everyone who loves Gordon Freeman has been attempting to get on that page with such desperation.
This feels important mostly because, as Insider Gaming pointed out, Project White Sands isn’t the already-leaked “Deadlock,” which is a 6 vs. 6 third-person shooter that Gabe Newell and crew are working on.
“What is the White Sands Project?”
That leaves us with two main possibilities for Project White Sands: either it’s a follow-up to the amazing VR shooter Half-Life Alyx, or it’s Half-Life 3 itself.
Speaking about Alyx, the incredible 2020 virtual reality experience will be available on the PSVR 2 on PC in August for those who have upgraded their Steam software and purchased a PlayStation adaptor.
Regarding potential game settings, what does that codename mean?
Conjecture on Reddit suggests that this might point to a possible setting of a snowy environment or the period surrounding the 1998 release of the first Half-Life when the most powerful gaming PCs were comparable in power to pocket calculators.
For context, we should remember that Goggsy last appeared in the short yet entertaining DLC release Half-Life 2: Episode 2, which was released in October 2007. Before that, the incredible Half-Life 2 was released on November 16, 2004, one year after Steam’s founding.
Though it’s best to read everything above with as many saltshakers in your hands as possible, it’s comforting to know that Valve may finally be working on the shooter that fans have been clamouring for after years of ardent prayers and much speculation.
