Fourth king of Bhutan – vs/ former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani
The former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani was a leading global expert on failed states and wrote the book on it, a storied academic who taught for years at Berkeley and John Hopkins and he worked in the World Bank.
He was even a contender to replace Kofi Annan as the UN Secretary General.
He even did a Ted Talk on how to fix Afghanistan before entering the political arena.
On paper, Ghani was the most qualified Afghan to run Afghanistan, however, in reality he lacked that key essential element of leadership.
He alienated those in government, had an academic arrogance and his rating among Afghans plunged to the bottom as he failed to inspire.
He failed to stop corruption and instead took part in it in a big way.
With a head like this it is no wonder that the Afghan army of 180,000 collapsed so quickly against a Taliban of 70,000 to 80,000.

Now compare this to His Majesty The Fourth King who led around 6,000 inexperienced troops from the front against upto 3,000 battle hardened Indian militants and saved the day for Bhutan in December 2003.
Compare it to His Majesty The King ( Fourth king of Bhutan ) who has put his life and safety on the line since March 2020 to protect us against COVID-19 in every conceivable way to the extent that tiny and poor Bhutan is a global success story.
While President Ashraf Ghani fled with a plane load of dollars our King is selling shares to ensure the financial security of every Bhutanese.
You can get all the qualifications in the world and impress foreign academics, but I think what matters in the end in running a country is what is in the heart.
Bhutan may not have much by way of natural resources, but the nation is truly blessed with Fourth king of Bhutan good leadership.
