to Have More Natural Conversations

According to Amazon, it wants Alexa to have a more human-like conversation with users.

Amazon highlighted that Alexa has made significant progress in her speech and natural language processing to enable more human-like conversations.

The goal of the new underlying idea, which was alluded to in May, is to enable Alexa to engage in more informal dialogue.

In order to support the accuracy of its claims, the virtual assistant also provides improved personalization, knowledge grounding, and the capacity to conduct API calls.

The redesigned Alexa was unveiled by Amazon senior vice president Dave Limp at a party held at the business’s new HQ2 facility in Arlington, Virginia. This means that conversing with Alexa will now be “just like talking to another human being,” according to Limp.

Like Siri, Apple’s competing smart speaker, Alexa can now be woken up by simply glancing at the screen of a camera-equipped gadget. Previously, users had to type the wake word on the device. With the help of improved on-device visual processing, acoustic models can discriminate between a client speaking with Alexa and other users.

Over the next months, Alexa will start to offer these new features.

CEO Andy Jassy wants to make Alexa “the best personal assistant in the world,” which includes updating it.

An AI Business source revealed last month that the company has formed a “central team” to focus on ambitious AI projects. One of the team’s tasks would be to generate massive language models. Head scientist for Alexa Rohit Prasad, who answers directly to CEO Jassy, is in charge of it.
