Apple is reportedly in talks to invest in OpenAI

 

 

 

The iPhone giant According to a news article published on Thursday, Apple is in talks to invest in OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT and the leading authority in generative artificial intelligence.

The Wall Street Journal reports that OpenAI is raising additional funds to assist cover the high expenses of developing new technologies, and that Steve Jobs’ business is present at the funding table.

According to reports, venture capital firm Thrive Capital, which will contribute $1 billion, is leading a funding round for OpenAI, and the company is reportedly in talks to attain a $100 billion valuation.

According to news sources, OpenAI has been in talks to raise the financing necessary to become one of the most valuable tech businesses globally for months.

Included in the latest investment round is Microsoft, the company that owns half of OpenAI‘s revenues and is the company’s largest investor.

If verified, Apple’s acquisition of OpenAI would coincide with the company’s September 9 announcement of new iPhones that are anticipated to maximize AI advancements.

Apple stated in June that it will be integrating OpenAI‘s technology into the software for its flagship iPhones, but it also mentioned that other businesses’ AI capabilities would be made available eventually.

Apple’s own technology would be used for the majority of AI features, but if the consumer preferred, more complex jobs could be outsourced to OpenAI.

An AFP request for comment was met with silence from Apple.
